In St. Paul, MN a MK1 is reborn with a little vision and style into a petrosexual morsel that instantly evokes want. Upgrades, hacks, tweaks, and the furthest thing from a daily commuter gets you a lean mean Rabbit with attitude.

Juha is a friend of mine who lives in my building. His car is just across the way from mine and as two obsessed car people we are constantly tinkering with our rides to get them to a state of satisfaction. He tunes cars so if you are in MN and have a BMW or…
Usually a VW bus can conjure nostalgia or at least recognition but not so often: lust. Well this beauty was a knockout and it’s one of those cars that you know is one of a kind as well as a looks like jewelry. Ron Berry has been building some interesting custom rides, but this one…
If you are into custom Porsches, Singer is a name you know. If you are new to this arena, Singer is a name you need to know. If I were to approach my car obsession with the same time, money, and tireless pursuit of perfection, I’d be Singer. Beyond simply making a car, and much like the top chefs of the world, this is where emotion is engineered. If you are someone who believes a production car is the end of the story, this is not for you.
Yes, you read that right. Most motorheads have heard tale of some ridiculous build like this but many don’t fully realize how much love a minivan like this can instill until you drive it. You get to have a street prepped minivan with per-gear boost levels to make it driveable and still haul groceries or your 6 closest friends and kids. I love weirdness like this because it illustrates how cars can only be ranked along certain metrics if we look at them objectively but cannot be understood subjectively without hands-on experience. You don’t have to constrain your options if you are willing to take a walk on the wild side and go down the path less traveled.
There are some pretty awesome Porsches rolling around but this one oozes class. If you haven’t guessed by now, I love cars that wear their uniqueness on their sleeve, especially if you can see the effort and the love all coming together into a final result that just makes you stare. One of the most…
What car aficionado doesn’t like the NSX? I mean really? I’ve been in so many different NSX’s in my time, form supercharged 560WHP versions to 1000hp turbo setups but as a package, as a look, this NSX is jaw dropping. I’ve seen it in person at SEMA and in person it’s even more compelling. I think,…
For a street car, it’s hard to argue with the R8 and harder to argue with the sound of a V10 mid-engined supercar for the Volks. Say what you will about V8’s, the V10’s hold a special place in my heart due to the song it sings. The second generation 610hp naturally aspirated carbon fiber R8 breaks the 200hp barrier and features Audi’s “Virtual Cockpit” infotainment system to keep your eyes on the critical dash area. The grip is insane, but the responsiveness to throttle input is finally at the level needed to become one with the car. For driver’s who want as much feedback as possible, this combination is definitely an experience to covet.
No, the car isn’t mine. Yet, somehow just getting to see, touch, and sit inside a 918 makes me feel special. Isn’t that the magic of car love? It’s not about what the car is to others (although that is a factor) but primarily it’s about how the car makes ME feel. I’m not certain…
If you are familiar with the Reliant Robin this will be old news. For newcomers, welcome to the car that doesn’t impress you with performance or a sexy body but wins you over immediately with it’s sense of humor. Honestly if this is the first time you’ve seen this and you don’t laugh out loud, you are missing your funny bone.
A stunning example of how simple and clean results in outstanding and eye-popping by not being loud. Simple isn’t easy!
It’s still a little early, but I’ve been following Christian Von Koenisegg’s progress on the Regera, Koenisegg’s first hybrid hypercar and listening to Christian speaking about the engineering is nerdgasmically awesome. I wonder what it would take to get a ride in a Regera?
I’ll post updates when we have more footage of the Regera in action.
There has been a LOT said about the Holy Trinity in supercars, namely McLaren P1, La Ferrari, and the Porsche 918. It seems strange to me that Koenigsegg isn’t in that comparison at every turn. Christian Von Koenigsegg is a 44 year old engineering savant. His ideas push the limits of a small supercar manufacturer…
If you are into custom Porsches, you have to have heard of Magnus. He walks to the beat of a different drummer but that drumline is amazing. What I personally love about Walker is that he is doing what the pinnacle of car people do, be themselves. I think as people get closer to their car passion, the cars become more like them. Makers make in their image, and Walker is no exception.
If you haven’t seen this piece, take some time as it’s beautiful.
If you love cars like I love cars, this piece is like car nerdvana. Twin charged custom Lotus running dual fuel? Yes please. I’m a huge fan of fast cars, but on the road what I love is a QUICK car. Power-to-weight is always the name of the game and near the top of that list is this beauty.
If you haven’t seen this, you are in for a treat.
Naked carbon fiber is compelling, especially if it’s a symmetrical mirror along the midline of the car. There isn’t much to be said about the Huayra that hasn’t been said and Horacio is one of my all time favorite designers. Interestingly enough I was wandering through SEMA looking for the Ohlins suspension booth to ask…
This is a 2016 Anniversary Edition GTR. Only 45 exist in the world and they all came in a pale gold however this particular example was also wrapped in a brushed gold and brushed metallic black. Only 30 of these cars came to the U.S. so extremely rare! Here is the kicker, it’s my MOM’s…
This car never gets old. I saw it in person at SEMA and just as wicked in person. Lambo’s are pretty amazing cars, the Huracan even moreso but going the extra mile really shows. I had the chance to meet Liberty Walk founder Wataru Kato (Kato San) who is a car nut who took his obsession…
So this is my car. It’s an MKV R32 (NAR). This is my daily driver, the twin turbo Neon being the other. I am in love with this car. 6 years of ownership and still finding new things to do to it including a lot of customization. At this stage, the main things I’m got on…
It’s easy to think it’s only performance that makes a car great, but often it’s many things working together in unique combinations that make a car special. The Radical is no doubt an amazing car at the top of the extreme performance range but more than the raw numbers, listen to it. Turn up your laptop/stereo/headphones and really listen to the sounds this car makes. I feel like Homer Simpson drooling.
